As part of the side activities of the first North Africa Summit 2026, held under the theme "Religion, Law, and Society," an international delegation composed of members of parliament, political leaders, and human rights advocates from the United States and the United Kingdom was received at the House of Representatives by Mr. Hassan Lachgar, President of the Socialist Group – Ittihadi Opposition, accompanied by Mr. Ahmed El Aaqed, Director of the Group.
The meeting, initiated by the Menassat Center for Research and Social Studies, took place alongside the delegation's participation in the first North Africa Summit 2026, held in Casablanca from 20 to 22 July 2026. It forms part of the Center's broader initiatives aimed at fostering exchanges between national institutions and their international counterparts while showcasing Morocco's experience in democratic governance and institutional cooperation.
The discussions provided an opportunity to exchange views on the importance of strengthening a culture of dialogue and openness, promoting the values of coexistence and tolerance, and supporting initiatives to protect rights and freedoms. Participants also emphasized the central role of legislative institutions in strengthening democracy, consolidating the rule of law, and expanding parliamentary cooperation and the exchange of expertise to address shared challenges.
This initiative was organized as part of the side activities led by the Menassat Center to give Summit guests the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into Morocco's legislative and institutional experience. Its objective is to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between national institutions and their international counterparts through the exchange of experiences and the development of lasting partnerships.
